Who is AC Lightnin?

AC Lightnin is a New York-based Spoken Word-Emcee, Filmmaker, Host and Published Author. His thoughtful and witty lyricism takes his lsiteners on a journey. Born and raised in New York, AC's love for fandoms such as Marvel and Star Wars inspired him to get into creative writing, writing his first fan-fiction. 

In his teenage years, AC started his journey as an artist at Urban Word NYC for their workshops in 2014 and later served on their youth board from 2016 to 2017. Those same years, he start performing his music and poetry, making a name for himself in the NYC open mics scene. 

With a love for Hip-Hop, spoken word and Christian rap, he incorporates his Christian faith values, experiences with love, masculinity and idealistic views, some considered unconventional and controversial that challenges the status quo in some of his works. With a body of work that includes 2 EP's, Rehabilitation (2020) and Believe (2022), multiple singles throughout 2023 and 2024 and a few poems published in multiple anthologies, AC has used his style of witty wordplays and rap-style to perform and entertain crowds across the East Coast.

AC Lightnin uses his craft as a gateway to paint a picture of his reality as a Black Christian man. He believes ‘if you experiment and keep trying, one day it'll work out.’ AC Lightnin's body of work had led him to perform on two Off-Broadway stages; Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater and The Triad Theater, the Brooklyn Museum, The Delancey, Harlem Week, Busboys and Poets, Pianos, SOBs for the Poetry Me, Please showcase, The NYC Poetry Festival on Governors Island and Paterson's Poetry Festival. AC Lightnin has been featured on the Manhattan Neighborhood Network’s TV shows, The Spotlight and CynCity Live. And his music has been featured on Christian Hip-Hop blog sites such as Solomon's Porch, Trackstarz and Rapzilla.com.
